What The Papers Say - March 16

The Liverpool Echo reports on Sam Allardyce's admission that he was at Manchester United's midweek Champions League clash with Sevilla to watch a "couple" of the Spanish side's players in action.

And in further transfer talk, a number of Portuguese outlets are claiming Everton hold an interest in Porto's 19-year-old centre-back Diogo Leite.

Toffees winger Ademola Lookman has told the Bundesliga website of his ambition to become a regular goalscorer. The 20-year-old, currently on loan with RB Leipzig, also reveals the German top tier is "more physical" than England's Premier League.

Everton's two-times title-winning captain Kevin Ratcliffe tells the Echo that Cenk Tosun could propel the Blues to a strong finish to the current campaign and of his admiration for the Turkey international striker.

The local paper also covers the Club's "inspired" fan initiative, which saw 10 young supporters, all named Leighton, meet Toffees' left-back Leighton Baines at Everton's USM Finch Farm training ground.

The Daily Mirror covers the news that boss Allardyce has called on the help of Blues' head performance psychologist Dr Martin Littlewood in a bid to turn around the Toffees' away form.

Jordan Pickford has told the Sunderland Echo that he is doing everything possible to push for the England number one jersey.

Everton goalkeeper Pickford, who recently returned to the north east to receive the region's Football Writers Association's Player-of-the-Year prize, was yesterday named in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad for this month's friendly matches against Holland and Italy.
