How Radzinski Made Three-Year Old Feeney Fall In Love With Everton

When his friend and teammate Tom Davies fired home the third and final goal of Everton’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last Saturday, defender Morgan Feeney could conceivably have been there on the pitch alongside him.

Having made his first-team debut as a substitute at Goodison Park during the Europa League meeting with Atalanta back in November, the 19-year-old was then handed a first start against Apollon Limassol away in Cyprus the following month.

With that recent taste of senior action still fresh in the mind, Feeney trained all week to make sure, if needed, he’d be ready to take on the Eagles.

When he knew for sure he wouldn’t be part of the matchday squad he reverted to the plan that has been a part of every other Saturday of his life since he was three-years-old - head to the Gwladys Street.

Despite his involvement on the fringes of Sam Allardyce's first-team, Feeney maintains a Season Ticket behind Goodison’s most-famous goal, rarely missing a home fixture.

In the video above, the England Under-19 international discusses his memories of first visiting the Grand Old Lady aged three, his favourite games from down the years - and why it was Tomasz Radzinski who made him fall in love with the Toffees.

“Going to Goodison is all I knew growing up - it was drilled into me from my family and ever since the first game that I came to I just wanted to keep coming back," he says.

"I always remember the first game I went to - Fulham in 2002. The ball was running out of play and Tomasz Radzinski went to keep it in play and did a bit of a Cruyff turn. He put his hand in the air and I thought he was putting a thumbs up to me! 40,000 people and I thought he was waving at me.

"That’s what stuck in my memory most and made me love the Blues.”
