Sam Allardyce explains in Wednesday’s edition of the Liverpool Echo why Oumar Niasse has made himself his first-choice striker.

The Everton boss hails the contribution the Senegalese frontman has made after starting the last three games - scoring against Crystal Palace last time out - but admits he has competition for his place.

One of those vying for his spot is Cenk Tosun, who tells the Daily Mail he is working tirelessly to improve his fitness in order to push his way into the starting line-up.

Toffees chief Allardyce also hints that he is ready to settle on a regular line-up, having varied his selections in recent weeks.

Everton in the Community’s Gala Dinner to mark 30 years since its inception is well covered, with Allardyce hailing the work the charity does across Merseyside and beyond.

The Club’s first-team stars were in attendance as EitC celebrated the impact it has had over the past three decades, with the likes of Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines joining participants and project leads on stage at the black tie event at St George’s Hall on Tuesday night.
