Everton Under-23s play their rearranged Premier League Cup fixture against Barnsley at Southport tonight.

The tie was originally slated for 3 January but fell foul of the inclement weather and will now kick off at 7pm this evening at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

The young Blues, who have played only three games in the competition so far, can close the gap on Group F leaders Leicester City, who have played five fixtures.

A win over the Tykes tonight would give second-place Everton nine points, just two off the Foxes, with two games left to play.

The Blues go into tonight’s contest looking to bounce back from a tough 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League 2 on Monday night.

However, they did enjoy a comfortable victory in their previous Premier League Cup outing, with Bassala Sambou netting twice in a 3-0 win over Portsmouth at Goodison Park back in January.

That result completed the double over Pompey, after a 2-1 win over them at West Leigh Park, with the Toffees losing away at home to Leicester.

As always, Season Ticket holders and Members can gain free access to this evening’s match at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

Tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £3 concessions. Not yet a Member? Sign up here.
