What The Papers Say - 16 January

The Daily Mail is one of a number of newspapers to report that Everton hope to complete the signing of Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott before the end of the week.

The same publication also links the Toffees with moves for Sevilla's former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City midfielder Steven Nzonzi, and Amadou Soumaoro, Lille's 25-year-old French centre-back.

The Liverpool Echo analyses Everton's left-back options and features a piece on former Blues midfielder Jack Rodwell, who is poised to leave current club Sunderland.

The Mail and Echo both cover West Ham United assistant boss Alan Irvine denying the Hammers have an interest in the Toffees' 19-year-old midfielder Tom Davies.

Liam Walsh, who recently left the Blues for Bristol City, tells the Bristol Post he was "thankful for every day" he spent at Everton and explains why he made the move to Ashton Gate after being with the Toffees since the age of five.

And the Bolton News runs an interview with Everton's versatile 21-year-old Harry Charsley, who completed a loan switch to Bolton Wanderers earlier this month, and says he intends to "work hard, get around the pitch and score goals" for the Championship team.
