What The Papers Say - 7 January

Everton are linked with further January spending in Sunday’s newspapers.

Having already bought in Turkey striker Cenk Tosun, the Daily Mirror suggests the Blues will now turn their attentions to Swansea City centre back Alfie Mawson and Abdoulaye Doucoure of Watford.

The latter move depends on whether Sam Allardyce can lure midfielder Steven N’Zonzi to Goodison Park, according to the national paper.

Another midfielder said to be a Toffees target is Nice’s Jean Michael Seri. That’s a story included in the Daily Express, who go on to say the player will only move to a Premier League side that will play Champions League football next season.

Two potential outgoings are also speculated on in Sunday’s editions, with the Mirror suggesting Oumar Niasse could head to Crystal Palace, while the Liverpool Echo believe Kevin Mirallas is closing in on a return to former club Olympiacos of Greece.
