Gethin Jones has joined Fleetwood Town on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old right-back has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the League One club, who currently sit 12thin the table, eight points off the play-off spots.
Having joined Everton’s Academy at the age of 12, Jones progressed through the ranks and lifted the Under-18s Premier League title as co-captain alongside Russell Griffiths in 2014.
The Wales Under-21 international penned his first professional contract later that summer and made his solitary Everton first-team appearance in December that year when replacing Tyias Browning late on in the Europa League tie against Krasnodar at Goodison.
Jones played an integral part in Everton Under-23s’ Premier League 2 title success last season, and has previous experience in the Football League after short-term loan spells in League Two with Plymouth Argyle and Championship side Barnsley respectively.
He played a total of six league games as the Pilgrims reached the play-offs in the 2014/15 campaign, featuring in the first leg of their eventual semi-final defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
Jones then spent the latter period of last season with the Tykes, making 17 appearances as the Yorkshire outfit secured their Championship status.
