Having joined Everton’s Academy at the age of 12, Jones progressed through the ranks and lifted the Under-18s Premier League title as co-captain alongside Russell Griffiths in 2014.

He played a total of six league games as the Pilgrims reached the play-offs in the 2014/15 campaign, featuring in the first leg of their eventual semi-final defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.

Jones then spent the latter period of last season with the Tykes, making 17 appearances as the Yorkshire outfit secured their Championship status.
