Who Are Everton's Five Debutants?

@Everton

Five players made their Everton debuts during Thursday night's 3-0 win over Apollon Limassol.

But who are the crop of youngsters? What have they done previously? And when were they born? (Four of them in this century!)

Here’s everything you need to know about the latest quintet of Blues…

Charsley

Versatile Harry can play in several positions and has been at Everton’s Academy since the age of nine.

A crucial part of the Under-18s’ league triumph in 2013/14, his sixth and final goal of that campaign was the winner in a 1-0 victory over Manchester City at Goodison Park to clinch the title.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international enjoyed another eye-catching season in 2014/15, scooping the Under-18s Player of the Season Award as the young Blues narrowly missed out on retaining their crown.

Charsley impressed for David Unsworth's Under-23s in 2015/16 and 2016/17, finishing the latter campaign as joint top scorer to help Everton secure the Premier League 2 title.

Started against Apollon and put in a solid performance at left-back before being replaced by Alex Denny in injury time. Forced a smart first-half save from goalkeeper Tasos Kissas.

Hornby

Attack-minded Fraser joined Everton from Northampton Town at Under-14 level.

Initially a midfielder, he is developing into a powerful and prolific number 9.

A regular for the Under-18s since signing scholarship forms in July 2016, he caught the eye by netting four times to help the young Blues to a 5-2 league win over Stoke City later that same year.

The Scotland Under-18 international ended the campaign with 13 goals in 17 appearances, with his stellar form seeing him handed opportunities to impress for the Under-23s. He has made three Premier League 2 outings so far this term.

Started in Cyprus and played 82 minutes before making way for Nathan Broadhead. Had chance to score shortly before being withdrawn but was denied by Kissas.

Broadhead

Nathan is a skilful forward who possesses excellent balance and two good feet.

The youngster became a first-year scholar in June 2014 after first joining Everton's Academy at the age of 10.

He was top goalscorer for the Under-18s in 2015/16, also helping them lift the prestigious Dallas Cup.

After breaking through to David Unsworth's Under-23s in the second half of the 2016/17 campaign, he was rewarded with a new three-year deal.

Broadhead has also appeared for Bangor City and Wrexham and received international recognition for Wales up to Under-19 level.

He replaced Hornby with eight minutes to go against Apollon and played in Nikola Vlasic for the third goal.

Denny

An engine in the middle of the park, Alex is another Under-18s regular and was part of the Blues’ triumphant Dallas Cup squad in 2016.

Joining the Club as an Under-10, he has represented England at youth level.

Replaced Harry Charsley in second-half injury time in Nicosia.

Gordon

An attacking midfielder who includes dribbling and finishing among his strengths, Gordon has represented England at Under-15 level.

Signing on with Everton as an Under-12, he penned scholarship terms this summer and is currently the Under-18 Premier League’s leading scorer with 12 goals in 10 appearances.

In August, he scored four times in one game as Paul Tait’s side recorded an emphatic 7-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Entered the fray in Cyprus with 88 minutes played, replacing Kevin Mirallas.
