There are more rumours regarding the Blues’ next manager in Monday’s newspapers.

The Daily Mail claims Sam Allardyce is now in pole position to take over after reportedly holding face-to-face talks with major shareholder, Farhad Moshiri.

Meanwhile, Moshiri is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, explaining why David Unsworth “embodies the spirit” of Everton and says the former defender is firmly in the running to become the new boss on a permanent basis.

Also in the local read, Leighton Baines says the Toffees can’t afford to get carried away after their thrilling comeback victory over Watford at Goodison Park.

And finally, Ademola Lookman, who was introduced as a 55th-minute substitute against the Hornets, makes The Telegraph’s team of the weekend.
