David Unsworth is quoted across the national and local newspapers after holding his first press conference since being placed in temporary charge of Everton on Tuesday. 

The Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph say the former defender is out to seize what he described as “a great opportunity” to prove he can fill the role on a permanent basis, while the 44-year-old also discusses his pride at being offered the position, the future of midfielder Ross Barkley and his plans for his time at the helm.

Additionally, the Mail publish photos of Unsworth and his team boarding a train to London ahead of this evening’s Carabao Cup tie at Chelsea. 

The Daily Mirror report that Carlo Ancelotti, a rumoured target for the Blues in their search to replace Ronald Koeman, is in talks with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande. 

And the Liverpool Echo analyse Unsworth’s first meeting with the media and ask if centre-back Morgan Feeney could be the next youngster to graduate from Everton’s Academy after putting in an impressive display in Tuesday’s narrow Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Lincoln City.
