Michael Keane played the full 90 minutes as England ended their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win in Lithuania.
The Everton defender was named in the Three Lions’ starting XI as boss Gareth Southgate opted for a three-man central defence of Keane, John Stones and Harry Maguire.
Keane earned his fourth international cap and helped England keep a clean sheet, with Harry Kane grabbing the winner with a 27th-minute penalty after Dele Alli was brought down in the penalty area.
Moments before the game’s only goal, Keane went close to opening the scoring when he reacted well to a clearance from a set piece and fired an effort inches wide of the post.
The victory ensured the Three Lions were unbeaten in Group F, with eight wins from their 10 qualifying matches.
Meanwhile, Everton Under-23s defender Lewis Gibson was an unused substitute as England Under-17s kicked off their World Cup campaign in India with an impressive 4-0 triumph over Chile.
