Everton youngster Lewis Gibson has been included in Steve Cooper’s England Under-17s squad for next month’s World Cup.
Gibson, who was signed from Newcastle United in the summer, has been named in a 21-man squad which will make the trip to India, where the Young Lions face Mexico, Chile and Iraq in the first round of the competition.
Defender Gibson, who can play centre-back or left-back, helped the Under-23s to a fourth successive victory with a 4-2 win over Arsenal at Southport on Monday evening.
The international competition takes place from 6-28 October and Gibson could therefore miss up to four Under-23s fixtures for the Blues.
