Ademola Lookman discusses how Everton’s senior stars are helping him hone his game in Wednesday’s official matchday programme for the visit of Sunderland.
The 20-year-old got his Blues career off to a flyer, scoring within two minutes of his debut after stepping off the bench in the 4-0 win over Manchester City in January.
Lookman then helped England Under-20s win the World Cup over the summer, but he has had to bide his time with the Toffees so far this campaign.
The 19-year-old has made three senior appearances - all of which have come in the UEFA Europa League - in 2017/18 to date, while also featuring for David Unsworth’s Under-23s side.
And while Lookman knows he still needs to make improvements to his game, he is determined to grab every opportunity with both hands.
“I see myself as part of the first team, still a young player learning,” said Lookman. “I’ll get more opportunities; I just have to keep working hard and hopefully I can take my chances.
“The manager just wants me to keep working on my game and on what I’m good at, while at the same time improving those areas I still need to work on.”
Joining Lookman in the issue is fellow teenager Tom Davies, who discusses his meteoric rise since last term and his aims of cementing himself as a regular first-team starter.
As normal, manager Ronald Koeman and captain Phil Jagielka also give their thoughts from the dugout and the dressing room respectively.
Former goalkeeper Carlo Nash is the subject of our former player interview, with the 44-year-old hailing walking out at Goodison Park as “a career highlight”.
Elsewhere, Kevin Kilbane, who played for both Everton and Sunderland, provides his thoughts on the encounter, there is reaction from the latest Under-23s and Under-18s victories, and much more!
The matchday programme is priced at £3.50 and is available around the ground before the game. Alternatively, you can also purchase a digital version or a subscription here.
