Nikola Vlasic described it as “a very special moment” but only wished his Everton debut came on a more positive afternoon for the Blues.
The 19-year-old Croatian, signed from Hajduk Split on transfer deadline day, was introduced as an 80th-minute substitute in the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
And while Vlasic says entering the Goodison Park pitch wearing royal blue for the very first time is a moment that will live long in his memory, he could not hide his disappointment at the overall result.
“There’s a lot of emotions,” Vlasic told evertontv. “It was a very special moment for me. I was happy when the crowd clapped me as I came on but on the other hand, I’m sad because we lost the game.
“Tottenham were a very good. We knew their strengths but we conceded two goals in the first half and that is difficult to come back from.
“We need to forget this game and look forward quickly now. We have many games coming up and the next one is only a few days away. We are all determined to be better in the future.”
