It is rumoured the Toffees are ready to hijack Chelsea’s £40million bid for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy in Sunday’s Daily Express.

Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney once again dominates the back pages, with Gareth Southgate hailing the quality of the 31-year-old after he announced his retirement from international football.

Phil Jagielka says Rooney is serving as an Everton captain, while Ashley Williams says England’s all-time record goalscorer is still hungry for more trophies.

And finally, in the Daily Mail, it is claimed Brighton are lining up a move for Oumar Niasse, who is reportedly valued at £8million.
