Wayne Rooney says he is determined to prove himself back at Everton in Monday’s newspapers.

The Everton striker appears in several publications after he netted the winner on the opening day of the Premier League season in the Blues’ 1-0 win over Stoke City.

In the Liverpool Echo, Rooney admits he needs to convince Evertonians he ‘belongs’ back at the Club, while the Telegraph features quotes from him insisting he will improve on his match-winning display against the Potters.

Proving doubters wrong is the line in the Daily Express, while the Daily Mail goes with Rooney acknowledging there is pressure on his shoulders back at his boyhood club.

Elsewhere, Ronald Koeman tells the Echo why he signed Rooney, and admits he won’t stand in Gareth Barry’s way if the midfielder asks to leave.
