Ladies Pre-Season Friendlies Confirmed

Everton Ladies have confirmed their pre-season friendly schedule ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Blue Girls are back in WSL 1 and will face a number of top-flight clubs as part of their preparations.

First up for the Toffees is FA Women's Premier League Northern Division side Blackburn Rovers, before a trip to WSL 2 side Watford.

Everton then face Arsenal and Chelsea in quick succession, at first Meadow Park and St George’s Park respectively. The Blue Girls then round out their preparations with a run-out against neighbours Fylde, before completing their schedule at FA Cup finalists Birmingham City.

“We will find out very quickly what the level in WSL 1 is like,” said head coach Andy Spence. “The good thing is that we have a set of pre-season fixtures that will help us do that. We play Arsenal and Chelsea in the space of four days and that is two of the top teams in the league back-to-back with a couple of days of recovery in between. That is a scenario we will come across in the season.

“We open our friendlies against Blackburn, and we know they will give us a good test. They are a good club who play the right way. That will allow us to start giving players minutes on the pitch and then from there we can build that up ahead of starting the season on 24 September.”
