Wayne Rooney features across both national and local newspapers after making his return to Goodison Park against MFK Ruzomberok on Thursday night.

The Blues striker tells the Daily Mirror that he had to fight his emotions as he ran out ahead of the Europa League tie, while the Daily Express carries quotes from Rooney on why the squad know they can play better. 

Ronald Koeman also speaks about the 1-0 win at Goodison, and speaks about the forward options at his disposal in the Independent. One of those is Sandro Ramirez, who made his debut as a second half substitute, and Koeman has hinted in the Liverpool Echo the Spaniard could start in the away leg in Slovakia next week.

Ross Barkley’s future is also discussed in Friday’s editions with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all said to hold an interest in the Everton midfielder.
