What The Papers Say - 24 July

Monday’s Daily Express claims Everton are poised to strike a deal with Swansea City for playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The paper speculates that the Blues have made an offer of £40m, plus another £5m in add-ons, for the Iceland international, 27.

Elsewhere, defender Michael Keane tells the Daily Mail he can handle the expectation that will come with a Club-record price tag, while former Toffees winger Trevor Steven explains to the Liverpool Echo that he has never seen Wayne Rooney looking so happy.

Finally, the same paper carries quotes from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jordan Pickford, who says he’s desperate to make his Everton debut in Thursday’s Europa League third qualifying round first leg against Slovakia's MFK Ružomberok.
