Everton’s World Cup winning quintet have sent a signed flag to an Evertonian who helped them celebrate their summer triumph in style.
Kieran Dowell revealed how he headed straight over to a group of Blues at the Suwon Stadium in South Korea, after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s strike against Venezuela earned England Under-20s the title of world champions.
The boyhood Blue was handed an Everton flag, which he took over to his Club teammates and kept with him throughout the trophy presentation.
After finding out the identity of the supporter upon their return to USM Finch Farm this week, the five players have now sent out a replacement to the committed supporter.
“The flag came about when I caught the eye of some Everton fans in the crowd and ran over to celebrate with them,” Dowell told evertontv. “They had Everton shirts on and they threw me their flag, so I took it back to the rest of the lads and we had it with us for all the celebrations!”
“[Winning the World Cup] still hasn’t sunk in yet, really.
“You come back off your holiday and everyone is reminding you that you’ve won the World Cup. Whenever you hear it, it gives you a confidence boost and we want to take that into next season.”
