New Blue Sandro says the confidence he’s gained from a blistering 2016/17 season in La Liga can help him hit the ground running in the Premier League.
The striker completed a move from Malaga to Goodison Park on Monday, having netted 16 goals in his one and only campaign with Albicelestes.
A Barcelona academy graduate who made 32 appearances for the Catalan giants prior to joining Malaga, Sandro also helped Spain reach the final of last month’s European Under-21 Championship.
And, having penned a four-year deal, the highly-rated 21-year-old is eager to continue his development on the blue half of Merseyside.
“I was happy with my season because I’ve improved a lot as a footballer and I was grateful to Malaga for the way they treated me from day one,” Sandro exclusively told evertontv. “I’ve always said that confidence is the most important thing for a footballer, to feel that you are important for the team and within the club. I believe that that is the basis for success and it was the reason behind managing to score 16 goals throughout the whole season.
“I’ll be doing my best to provide goals for the team, which is my major strength as a player in the world of football. I’m feeling happy and I really can’t wait to wear the shirt at Goodison Park and to be able to score my first goal.”
Born in Gran Canaria, Sandro has never lived outside of Spain but says he is excited to start a new experience in England and fully prepared to throw himself into adjusting to a different culture.
“I can’t wait to get to Liverpool and start settling in to the city itself, which I think is vital,” he added. “I’m also really wanting to get started on learning English. That’s something that I’ve always wanted to do and now I have the ideal opportunity to do that, in order to fully integrate into life in the city and to be with my teammates and start the process of hard work and improvement.”
