Both Mason Holgate and Jordan Pickford played as England Under-21s collected a vital win over Slovakia at the European Championships in Poland.
Having drawn 0-0 with Sweden in their opening match in Group A, the young Lions needed maximum points to put them right in the reckoning to qualify for the semi-finals.
But they found themselves behind after 23 minutes when Slovakia’s Martin Chrien put his side in front.
Holgate, who had started at right back, was replaced at the interval with Jacob Murphy as coach Aidy Boothroyd rolled the dice to find a way back into the contest.
Just five minutes into the second half, Alfie Mawson brought his side level, before Nathan Redmond blasted home the winner soon after to ensure England go top of their Group with one match to play.
The Three Lions face hosts Poland on Thursday 22 June in the Kalporter Arena in Kielce.
