Wales Name Jones In Training Squad

Gethin Jones has been called up by manager Chris Coleman for Wales’ training camp ahead of their game with Serbia.

The Everton defender was born in Perth, Australia, but was raised in Wales and has captained the Dragons from Under-16 to Under-21 level.

Jones' call-up to the senior side comes off the back of an impressive loan spell at Championship side Barnsley, where he made 17 appearances in the latter half of the season. The 21-year-old played for the Blues’ Under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy against Blackpool in November.

Jones joins fellow Toffee Ashley Williams, the Wales captain, in the training squad as Wales prepare to continue their World Cup qualifying campaign with a trip to Serbia on 11 June. They currently sit in third behind their upcoming opponents, with Ireland in second.
