Dixies Decisions: Graeme Sharp

@Everton

Voting for Everton’s End of Season Awards, The Dixies, is open.

As always, Evertonians can put forward their top three in the Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season and Goal of the Season categories, with the winners set to be announced at the ceremony at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday 9 May.

The inaugural ‘Dixies’ are set to be bigger and better than ever before, with almost 1,300 tickets available for fans to enjoy a two-hour awards show packed with entertainment.

To help you make your decision on who should win awards on the night, we’ve asked Blues past and present for their choices. Today, former Toffees striker and Club Ambassador Graeme Sharp casts his votes.

PLAYER OF THE SEASON – ROMELU LUKAKU

This is a tough one. You’d have to look at Idrissa Gana Gueye coming into this category, as does Romelu. For me, perhaps being a bit selfish as a striker, you can’t take away Rom’s goals so I’d probably give it to him, but Gana runs him close.

Rom’s said all along that he wants his game to improve and it definitely has done. He’s had a very good season but when you put down the stats in front of you, and the fact he’s the top scorer in the league, that just shades it over Idrissa.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON – TOM DAVIES

I think Tom has to fall into this category. He’s been pushed by David Unsworth, he’s got into the first team and his performances have been excellent. Ross Barkley still comes into this category, of course, but the impact Tom has had, and his assured performances, nobody can argue he’s been a breath of fresh air this season.

GOAL OF THE SEASON – TOM DAVIES v Manchester City (h)

Rom’s early goal against Bournemouth was a great strike, Mirallas’ goal at West Brom was excellent, but if you ask Evertonians what goal stands out for them, you’d have to say it’s Tom Davies. A young lad against one of the best teams in Manchester City, it was his first senior goal, and the fact he showed so much composure, including a cutback and that finish, makes it the most memorable.
