Sunday’s issue of the matchday programme sees Joel Robles discuss his impressive clean sheet percentage and hopes of one day representing Spain.
The 26-year-old began the season as Everton’s second-choice goalkeeper but grasped his opportunity with both hands following an injury to Maarten Stekelenburg in late December.
Joel has registered shut-outs in 56.3 per cent of his appearances this campaign - comfortably greater than nearest-rival Thibaut Courtois, who boasts a still impressive 44.8 per cent.
The custodian also hopes his form for the Toffees will one day catch the attention of his national team.
“Naturally, it is still in my mind,” he reveals. “I work every day to get better and one of my objectives is to one day play for Spain. Of course, we have very good goalkeepers in Spain but I will work hard for it because I would love to play for the national team.
“You never know in football. If you train hard and play well, then that could be your gift.”
Elsewhere, Kieran Dowell talks about the Under-23s’ title hopes this term and looks forward to a vital clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison on Monday night.
