Everton Under-23s coach David Unsworth visited the Pullman Hotel in Liverpool to take a first look around the kitchen that will host to Everton’s Ultimate Chef evening.
Unsworth will put his culinary skills to the test alongside fellow ex-Blues Peter Reid and Leon Osman on Wednesday 12 April all in the name of raising vital funds for the Under-23s’ Home Is Where The Heart Is campaign.
The event is priced at just £68 inc VAT per ticket and will see the trio recreate some of their favourite dishes, each preparing one course which will then be enjoyed by the Blues in attendance.
Tickets for the first ever Everton’s Ultimate Chef event will include an arrival drink, a three-course meal cooked by the triumvirate and entertainment throughout the night. A handful of Under-23 stars will also be there throughout the night, taking on a number of front-of-house roles, including welcoming guests, serving food and taking drinks orders.
Unsworth is looking forward to returning to the Pullman for what will be an entertaining night as he dons his chef hat and apron.
“I went along to the Pullman Hotel to meet the chef I will be working with on the night, just to get a head start!” he joked.
“My cooking skills are okay. I cook when I can and I am adequate! But these guys that I met are the professionals so I will be doing as I am told on the night.
“The most important thing on the night though is that it is all for a great cause. The Home Is Where The Heart Is campaign has really taken off and it has been incredible to see so many people get involved in it.
“It’s a real joint effort – not just mine or the communities’, it is the players as well. They have taken the responsibility on from the start of the project. It will be nice to have then around on the night and doing as much work as the three chefs.
“It will be a great night and we will have a giggle along the way. Hopefully myself and the other chefs can serve up some edible food for everybody as well!”
All proceeds from the exclusive event will go towards ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’, a campaign to support young people on the brink of homelessness across the city of Liverpool. The fundraising target of £230,000 will be used to fund and develop a supported living initiative for young adults aged 16 to 23-years-olds, delivered by Everton in the Community.
