Three Blues Feature For Young Lions

Three Everton youngsters featured as England Under-20s recorded a 2-2 draw with Portugal on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Idrissa Gana Gueye played the full 90 minutes and set up Senegal's opener as the Lions of Teranga were held 1-1 by Nigeria at Barnet.

Ademola Lookman, Jonjoe Kenny and Kieran Dowell were all named in Paul Simpson’s England starting line-up for the first of three scheduled friendlies taking place in France during the international break.

Callum Connolly and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, were unused substitutes.

Former Blue Ryan Ledson, now with League One outfit Oxford United, was also not called from the bench.

Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke opened the scoring from the penalty spot midway through the first half, before Patrick Roberts doubled the Young Lions’ advantage seven minutes before the interval with a long-range effort.

But Francisco Ferreira’s header got the Seleção back into the contest in the second period and substitute Helder Ferreira netted an equaliser in the dying seconds to deny the Young Lions victory.

The Under-20s are next in action when they face France at the Stade Chateau Bily on Saturday.

Later on Thursday, Fenerbahce striker Moussa Sow turned home on 54 minutes after Nigeria had failed to clear Gana's right-wing cross at The Hive Stadium.

It looked as though that would be enough to seal the friendly win, only for Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho to level with a penalty seven minutes from time.

Senegal next face Ivory Coast in Paris on Monday.

On Wednesday, Toffees defender Morgan Feeney starred for Neil Dewsnip’s England Under-18s against Saudi Arabia.

The Bootle-born centre-back captained the side and opened the scoring as the Young Lions recorded a 2-0 victory in a friendly played in Doha, Qatar.
