Mason Holgate and Matthew Pennington paid a visit to St Anne Stanley Primary School on Wednesday afternoon to meet young children from their Everton School Supporters’ Club.
The pair were joined by Everton in the Community staff to take part in team building exercises, working in small groups to build the highest tower using just spaghetti and marshmallows!
The young Blues then went on to to help with an Everton-themed crossword and the session concluded with a Q and A where they were both asked a variety of questions ranging from their favourite colour to their best friends in football is and who inspired them when they were younger.
The School Supporters Club scheme was launched at the beginning of the 2015/16 season and there are now over 50 schools signed up. Most of the schools are based locally but there are now clubs based in places as far afield as New York, Florida, Spain and Vietnam.
The initiative provides a great extra-curricular engagement tool for junior Blues, giving them the chance to meet other like-minded students, make friends and build a closer relationship with the club they support.
A wealth of benefits also come with the affiliation, including the following:
- Giveaways, competitions, and prizes.
- Visits from first-team, Under-23 and Ladies players.
- Pin badges for every child.
- Each teacher will be provided with a starter park full of activities for their new Supporters’ Club.
