Jones Loaned To Barnsley

Gethin Jones has joined Barnsley on loan until the end of the season.

The Wales youth international heads to Oakwell where he will get his first experience of Championship football.

It is the second loan move of Jones’ career, following a short stay with League Two Plymouth Argyle in the latter stages of the 2014/15 season.

Jones, a regular for Everton Under-23s this term, has played one competitive first-team match for Everton - a late substitute appearance against FC Krasnodar in the Europa League in December 2014.

The 21-year-old, who can operate either in defence or midfield, could make his Barnsley debut against Leeds United on Saturday. The Tykes currently sit 10th in the Championship table after 26 matches.

Jones is the sixth Everton player to move out on loan during the January transfer window. Delial Brewster, Conor Grant, Oumar Niasse, Tom Cleverley and Callum Connolly joined Southport, Doncaster Rovers, Hull City, Watford and Wigan Athletic respectively earlier this month.
