Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman were in dreamland after netting their first senior goals for Everton in the 4-0 rout of Manchester City.
With the Blues leading 2-0, thanks to strikes from Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas, Davies picked up possession inside his own half wide on the right.
Driving past two City players, he played the ball inside to Ross Barkley, before being fed the return pass inside the box. With Claudio Bravo approaching, he clipped the ball over the Chilean and into net – with the goal given to the youngster despite initial thoughts Lukaku had helped it over the line.
“Rom has tried to nick it off me but there is no chance I am giving it up!” said Davies. “It was great to get the three points and in such good fashion. To get a goal as well is unbelievable. As I was watching the ball roll towards the goal I just remember thinking ‘I hope Rom doesn’t touch this!’ It is an unbelievable feeling.
“It is a moment I have dreamed of for a long time. For it to come true and celebrate with the fans is an incredible feeling.”
Everton, however, were not finished for the afternoon. In injury-time, an attempted clearance cannoned off Seamus Coleman straight to debutant Lookman, who took one touch to settle himself and a second to rifle the ball past Bravo.
It capped a memorable week for the youngster, after his recent arrival from Charlton Athletic.
“It is amazing, a great feeling,” he said. “I’m delighted to have been able to come on, help the team and score my first Premier League goal. It was great to just finish the day off.
“Everything has been really good since I have been here. To be around players that I grew up watching and learn off them every day is great.”
