New signing Ademola Lookman insists he will be ready when called upon to make his Everton debut.
The 19-year-old winger completed his move to the Blues from Charlton Athletic, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal to become the Club’s first signing of the January transfer window.
Lookman, who will wear the number 31 shirt at Goodison Park, is not eligible for Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Leicester City, having already appeared in the competition this season with Charlton.
But, after experiencing the Championship and League One with the Addicks over the last two campaigns, England Under-20 international Lookman feels he is ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
“I’m delighted to be an Everton player,” he told evertontv. “The Club has a big history and I’m also looking forward to working with the manager, who has a great reputation for developing young players.
“I can’t wait to tackle the Premier League. It was good to experience the Championship last season and also League One for the last six months, but I feel like I’m ready now.
“I want to settle in as soon as possible, it’s just a matter of time before I do.
“The manager can help me to develop all aspects of my game, but especially the tactical side of things. I’ve spoken to him and he’s told me it’s down to me. It’s about what I do, what I produce on the pitch - that is what matters.”
