Dowell Determined To Deliver

Kieran Dowell can’t wait for pre-season training to begin and give Ronald Koeman an early glimpse of his exciting ability.

The teenage playmaker signed a new three-year contract earlier this week and has already outlined his aim of impressing Everton’s new manager.

The squad return to Finch Farm at the start of next month to begin a fresh era under Dutch legend Koeman’s tuition.

Dowell is looking forward to lacing up his boots again and catching the eye in training after a refreshing summer break.

“Now it’s about getting back to fitness and being ready to impress the new manager,” said Dowell.

“I’ve chilled out, firstly. I had a break with my mates up in Glasgow to watch Coldplay, I went to Greece with my family and then Italy with Tom Davies and Harry Charsley.

“You need to have a good pre-season, impress the new staff and players around you then see where it takes you.”

Dowell earned his first-team opportunity at the end last season after a series of match-winning performances for the Under-21s.

His 11 goals included audacious lobs, thundering long-range efforts and top-corner curlers - many of which feature in the video compilation above.

His collection has not only earned him a first-team chance but also whetted the appetite of Everton fans who are looking forward to seeing more from the talented youngster.

“I read some really nice things on Twitter after each goal and the fans have been really nice,” he added. “I’ve been thankful for that.”
