Keeper Renshaw Joins Blues

Everton have completed the signing of promising young goalkeeper Chris Renshaw on a three-year deal.

The 18-year-old, previously at Oldham Athletic, will join the Blues’ youth development ranks ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Having been with the Latics since the age of 11, Renshaw found himself on the League One side's first-team bench on occasion last term.

His form at youth level alerted the Toffees and, after putting pen to paper on a contract at Finch Farm, the Salford-born stopper told evertonfc.com of his delight.

“I’m really excited for the challenge,” he said. "I know about the record of how many players Everton have brought through the Academy. That interested me a lot because there seems to be a serious pathway to the first team.

"Every time we played friendlies at Everton, I always used to say the training ground and facilities would make this an amazing club to be at.

"This is a step up but I’m looking forward to it. For me, this year is a development stage, so it’s about trying to get that regular football in the Under-21s.”
