Sambou Joins U21 Ranks

David Unsworth has welcomed the signing of Bassala Sambou from Coventry, describing the 18-year-old striker who has joined Everton today from the League One club as "a really exciting prospect for the future".

Unsworth scouted Sambou throughout last season, during which he scored 25 goals for the young Sky Blues, most of which came for the Under-18s in the league and FA Youth Cup as well as four for the Under-21s.

"I tracked his progress over the whole of last season and he'll be a quality player to take into the Under-21 group and he's a really exciting prospect for the future," Unsworth said.

"We're pleased to be able to take him here as I believe he'll be a Premier League player in the future."

Sambou has signed a three-year deal to June 2019.
