Speedo Mick Is Fan Of The Year

Fundraising Evertonian Speedo Mick was named the Everton's Fan of the Year on Sunday.

Speedo Mick, real name Michael Cullen, has raised close to £60,000 for the Woodlands Hospice.

Kicking off his fundraising campaign with a cross-channel swim, Mick became famous when he appeared at grounds up and down the country wearing just his Blue swimsuit.

He then completed a Goodison to Wembley walk ahead of the Blues’ FA Cup semi-final last month - raising yet more money each step of the way.

And so he was a hugely popular nominee when the Everton Fans’ Forum asked supporters to nominate their Fan of the Year recently.

Mick was welcomed on to the pitch at half-time during the final game of the season to a huge ovation from the Goodison faithful.

He said: “Without the fans it wouldn’t be happening. They have been fantastic and it’s really emotional for me. It’s not a case of me getting my Speedos on, it’s a case of the fans getting their hands in their pockets all season.”

Mick was handed a special canvas by Ian Snodin and Fans’ Forum chairman Nick Mernock and also received a 2016/17 Season Ticket.
