Blues To Play In Dresden Cup

Everton’s pre-season schedule ahead of the 2016/17 campaign will involve a trip to Germany in July to participate in the Dresden Cup.

The Toffees will play in the four-team tournament, alongside hosts Dynamo Dresden, Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen and La Liga club Real Betis.

Everton will play two matches in the competition, which takes place on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 July at the 32,000-capacity DDV-Stadium.

Everton face Dynamo Dresden on the Friday night (8.30pm local/7.30pm UK time) in the second game of the tournament and then either Werder Bremen or Real Betis on the Saturday afternoon (1.30pm local/12.30pm UK time).

Ticket information will be announced in due course.

Real Betis, who the Blues faced in a friendly at Goodison three summers ago, are aiming to secure a mid-table finish in Spain’s top division this term.

Werder Bremen are four-time German champions, while hosts Dynamo Dresden will play next season in Bundesliga 2 after storming to title glory in Germany’s third tier during 2015/16.

Further pre-season details will be announced at a later date.
