Everton Ladies turned around a 2-0 deficit to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Millwall Lionesses on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts took the lead five minutes after the restart through defender Leighanne Robe and Ashlee Hincks scored from the penalty spot soon after to extend the advantage.
Despite the double setback, the Blues continued to search for a way back into the contest and they got just that through Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah before Simone Magill completed the comeback with 13 minutes remaining.
Everton travelled to Millwall in confident mood following their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Thursday evening and that showed during the early exchanges in London.
Danielle Turner cut inside and sent a curling cross just inches past the post before Megan Finnigan headed over a Michelle Hinnigan free-kick.
Both Claudia Walker and Kelly Jones then had opportunities to open the scoring before Millwall had a chance of their own just before the break when Megan Wynne fired over when in a good position.
The game remained goalless heading into the interval but just five minutes into the second half the Toffees went behind as Robe headed home to put Millwall ahead.
And just minutes later the task was made even harder for Andy Spence’s side when the referee awarded the hosts a penalty for a foul on striker Felicity Gibbons.
Hincks stepped up and smashed the ball past Alex Brooks to put the home side in full control of the contest.
With just half an hour remaining, Spence brought on winger Boye-Hlorkah for Kelly Jones and it wouldn’t be long before the substitution paid off.
Boye-Hlorkah took aim from 20 yards out and fired a brilliant strike past keeper Sarah Quantrill on 72 minutes to give the Blues hope.
And just five minutes later the Toffees were level as Magill broke through on goal and slotted home for her second strike in as many games.
The Northern Ireland international was then denied a late winner when her header struck the post as both teams settled for a share of the spoils in London.
Next up for Everton Ladies will be the visit of Watford Ladies to the Select Security Stadium on Sunday 24 April.
