Ramiro Funes Mori played the full 90 minutes as Argentina resumed their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 win against Chile.
The Everton defender saw his side go behind on 10 minutes in Santiago, but La Albiceleste hit back through Angel Di Maria and Gabriel Mercado to go fourth in the South American group of 10.
Meanwhile, Blues youngster Shayne Lavery was on the scoresheet but could not prevent Northern Ireland Under-19s from falling to a 2-1 defeat in Poland on Thursday.
Stephen Craigan named Lavery in his starting line-up for the European championships qualifier, and the forward struck on 33 minutes to cancel out Karol Swiderski’s opener.
Lavery was replaced with 13 minutes remaining and Swiderski then went on to grab his second of the evening in the dying minutes to secure victory for the hosts.
Elsewhere, Gerard Deulofeu completed 90 minutes as Spain Under-21s were defeated 3-0 by Croatia in their Euro 2017 qualifier on home soil.
At the same age level in a similar qualifier, Harry Charsley started for Republic of Ireland as the young Boys in Green lost 4-1 to Italy in Waterford.
Charsley started brightly and came within inches of opening the scoring, with his close-range effort zipping just wide after a goalmouth scramble.
The hosts eventually took the lead on 16 minutes, but the Azzurrini hit back with two goals before and after the half-time whistle to consolidate their place at the top of Group 2.
There was better news for England Under-19s, however, with the Young Lions scoring twice in the first 10 minutes to ensure a 2-1 triumph over Georgia in Spain.
Callum Connolly, who is currently on loan at Barnsley, was introduced off the bench with 11 minutes remaining, while Ryan Ledson and Jonjoe Kenny - both of whom are also currently out on loan - were unused substitutes.
