John Stones and Tim Howard remain doubts for Saturday’s visit of West Brom.
Stones’ hamstring complaint and Howard’s injured knee have kept them out of the Blues’ last two matchday squads.
Both players have stepped up their recovery this week but are yet to resume full training - meaning there is still a question mark over their availability this weekend.
Roberto Martinez said at his pre-match press conference: “John and Tim are in a very similar situation; we are hoping they can join the group at the end of this week and we will make a full assessment then.
“The have a chance to be involved, I need to see them in a group environment before they can join the squad.”
The game does come too soon for Muhamed Besic though, with his manager expecting the Bosnian to return for the Blues next league game against Aston Villa at the start of March.
He added: “Mo Besic is doing well, he will not be involved in this squad but I will be surprised if he isn’t involved in the next league game after West Brom.”
Martinez also reiterated his desire to give January signing Oumar Niasse his Everton debut but will continue to assess him in training.
