George Wins Goal Of The Month

@Everton

Evertonians have voted nine-year-old George Shaw's half-time effort against Swansea City the Club's January Goal of the Month!

Cerebral palsy sufferer George was invited to the game as a guest of Gerard Deulofeu's after an inspiring video of him playing football in the Spaniard's number 19 shirt went viral across the internet.

After meeting Gerard and the players before the match, George then took to the pitch during the interval to net a heartwarming goal in front of the Gwladys Street - and it is this strike that has seen off rival attempts from Ross Barkley, Aaron Lennon, Kevin Mirallas and Joe Williams by taking a whopping 86 per cent of the votes cast.

"I never thought I would win. I thought I’d come close because of all the support I’ve had but I can’t believe I won!" said George on learning of his victory.

"Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. I can’t wait for the End of Season Awards now. It will be great.”
