Besic Earns City Start

Muhamed Besic makes his first start for nearly four months in this evening’s Capital One Cup semi-final against Manchester City (8pm kick-off).

The midfielder has been rewarded for his excellent second-half cameo in the weekend draw against Tottenham Hotspur with a place in the first XI for tonight’s first leg at Goodison.

Also coming into the side is Joel Robles and Gerard Deulofeu as Roberto Martinez makes three changes in total.

The players making way are Tim Howard, Aaron Lennon and Arouna Kone, who all drop down to the bench.

Phil Jagielka is again named amongst the substitutes, with manager Martinez deeming that the skipper is not yet ready for a start as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Everton team (to face Man City): Robles, Coleman, Baines, Stones, Mori, Besic, Barry (c), Deulofeu, Barkley, Cleverley, Lukaku.
