This week’s first classic highlights instalment takes us back to September 2010 and an unforgettable afternoon at Goodison Park.
Everton had started the 2010/11 campaign slowly, picking up just one point from their opening three games - hardly the ideal preparation for the visit of a Manchester United side still smarting from losing the Premier League title by a solitary point to Chelsea the previous May.
United had already won two of their own three games and as the 90th minute ticked over, it looked like another victory for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men. Goals from Darren Fletcher, Nemanja Vidic and Dimitar Berbatov had overcame Steven Pienaar’s first half opener, meaning defeat was on the cards.
Except no one told Everton. In three magic minutes, first Tim Cahill nodded home then Mikel Arteta blew the roof off Goodison when he drove a loose ball past Edwin Van der Sar to make it 3-3.
