Brewster Pens Pro Deal

Delial Brewster admits it’s a dream come true to sign professionally with boyhood club Everton.

The striker officially put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal having turned 17 recently.

Brewster is a devout Evertonian, like his family, and has worked his way up through the ranks into the Under-18s, with whom he won the league title in the 2013/14 campaign.

Injures robbed him of playing time last season but Brewster is delighted to have still been made a professional.

“It is a really proud moment for me, of course it is,” he said. “I have been an Everton fan ever since I was a little kid. I have dreamt of playing for this Club and this contract is a step closer to doing that.

“My whole family are Evertonians too so they are really happy for me.

“It has been a very long road. It started when I was eight years old playing at the back of the school field. Now, nine years down the line, here I am.”

Brewster has had to be patient for his deal, having been assured one while just 16 by former Academy Manager Alan Irvine.

“It was a shock to me at the time to be honest,” recalls Brewster. “A few of the lads were given early scholarships but I wasn’t one of them. I had been injured for quite a while with my back but a couple of weeks before I got my pro contract, I was handed my scholarship.

“Then Alan Irvine called my parents in and said Everton were going to give me a professional contract.

“I was shocked but I was happy because I had worked really hard to get one.

“The hard work really starts now. People might think that you have made it now but you are far from it.

“This is just the start of a long, long road to becoming a professional first team player.”
