Jonjoe Kenny has his eyes on following the example of several of his young teammates and progressing into the first team fold in the coming season.
While he did make the bench for the Europa League clash with Krasnodar, the Under-21s skipper has been a keen observer as several youngsters made their first-team bows over the course of the 2014/15 campaign.
The likes of Gethin Jones, Kieran Dowell and Ryan Ledson have all now made their competitive debuts for the Club, while others including Matthew Pennington and Chris Long have made an impact on loan in the Football League.
And with Brendan Galloway rounding off a successful season for David Unsworth and his coaching staff with two outstanding outings against West Ham and Tottenham, Kenny hopes to follow suit as soon as possible.
“It’s a massive inspiration,” he told evertontv. “It shows the gaffer believes in the young lads. He brings us in to train with him and he’s shown he’s not scared to play them.
“Bren took his chance and I thought he did brilliantly. I was made up for him.
“I’ve had a little break and now we are back in pre-season. I’ll go from there. I want to have a good pre-season and then I will see what will happen for me.
“I would love to go out on loan and start playing real man’s football. Hopefully I can have a chance to do so this season.”
