Roberto Martinez has wished John Stones and Luke Garbutt good luck ahead of the European Under-21 Championships - and revealed watching the tournament is just one of the ways he is planning to stay in touch with football this summer.
Stones and Garbutt were confirmed in England's final 23-man squad for the competition on Tuesday and, speaking to evertontv, Martinez said: "We've got two players representing Everton in the Under-21s European Championships. That's always an interesting tournament and we hope that John and Luke can have a really successful period there.
"There are some great games to follow and watch in the tournament and any game is an opportunity to find talent and to find different kinds of players, and it's a great way sometimes to relax - to watch games while the preparations for the new pre-season are underway.
"As a manager, you shouldn't switch off in the summer because you'd miss too much. The privilege of being the Everton manager allows me to see the role as a passion. I don't see it as a job, just something that should be part of the daily routine."
