Everton skipper Phil Jagielka has scooped the Players’ Player of the Season prize at the 10th Annual End of Season Awards.
The central defender has been in imperious form throughout the campaign, forming a crucial defensive partnership with youngster John Stones, who was named Young Player of the Season earlier in the evening.
Jagielka’s consistency and lead-by-example style have won numerous plaudits throughout the campaign, and on being voted for the award by his colleagues, the 32-year-old said: “Obviously it is very special to be voted for by the lads who I train with every day and play alongside every weekend.
"I have played pretty much every game this season. It has been up and down at times, but it is nice to know that my team-mates think I deserve this accolade."
The Blues skipper has made 47 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees this season, with a further seven coming for England. Furthermore, he has seven goals to his name in 2014/15, including a late stunner in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield and the recent winner over Southampton at Goodison Park.
Having earned the award for the 2014/15 campaign, Jagielka joins fellow defenders Joleon Lescott and Leighton Baines as a multi-time winner, after picking up the award for the first time in 2008/09.
The Players’ Player of the Season award was sponsored by J Hayward & Sons Limited.
