Phil Jagielka completed an awards evening treble by being crowned Everton’s Player of the Season for 2014/15.
The Toffees captain had already collected the Players’ Player of the Season
and Goal of the Season
accolades when he stepped on to the St George’s Hall stage for a third time to take home the event’s top trophy on Wednesday night.
The skipper, a huge favourite amongst Evertonians, was a landslide winner in evertonfc.com’s poll to discover who the fans felt was the team’s top performer for the campaign.
It is the second occasion that Jagielka has been named Everton’s Player of the Season, replicating his achievements in 2008/09, when he also scooped the Players’ Player of the Season title.
"It's been a great night for me," beamed the captain. "Coming to the Awards, I fancied my chances of potentially picking up the Goal of the Season award with the one that I scored at Anfield but to get the Players' Player Award and the Player of the Season was extra special.
"I didn't expect to win three awards, and to know two were voted by the fans and one by my teammates makes it a night I'll remember for a long, long time."
Such has been the high level of Jagielka’s form during 2014/15, Roberto Martinez last month described the Everton captain as being in the "best moment of his career".
As well as his swashbuckling defensive displays, Jagielka – in his second full season wearing the armband – has also contributed six goals, including his memorable Goal of the Season strike against Liverpool at Anfield.
The 2014/15 Player of the Season Award was sponsored by Chang.
