Everton Under-21s take on Leicester City on Thursday in the quarter-finals of the Premier League International Cup.
Having safely negotiated a group containing Celtic, Spanish side Villarreal and Sunderland, the young Blues now face their first match of the knockout phase.
However, they come up against a side in strong form. In their own Premier League International Cup group, the Foxes recorded wins over Schalke, Benfica and Manchester City and are currently on a run of seven victories from their last 10 outings in all competitions.
But, despite knowing the challenge presented before his charges, coach David Unsworth is relishing pitting Everton’s wits against the in-form Foxes.
"I know Leicester’s manager Steve Beaglehole is very organised and they are a good team,” he said. “We faced them earlier this season and played well against them, but they are a good outfit and play in a certain way.
“We’ll have to combat that and it will be a tough game.
“Leicester have had a good run in this competition and it’s at their place, so it will be a difficult afternoon but one we are looking forward to."
Kick off is at 2pm. Keep an eye on the @Everton Twitter account for live updates. A match report and reaction will be available on evertonfc.com later.
