Young Blues Hope To Sink Submarine

by Hamish Dufton

Everton Under-21s continue their Premier League International Cup campaign when they take on Spanish side Villarreal at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

Having drawn 1-1 at home to Celtic in their opening group match, the young Blues will be looking to make it two wins in a week after beating Southampton in league action on Monday.

They face a side constructed from the Yellow Submarine’s ‘B’ and ‘C’ sides, who kicked off their involvement in the International Cup with a 0-0 draw with Sunderland only to then lose at Celtic.

However, Unsworth predicts a tough battle at Goodison Park.

“I am really looking forward to the game,” Unsworth told evertontv. “It is a different type of fixture for us and it is always nice for the players to play at Goodison.

“It will be a really great occasion for the lads – it is what they dream of doing, playing in big games at Goodison.

“So we will sample that, we will enjoy it but it will be a really tough test against a very good Villarreal side.

“We have watched a couple of their games recently and they are a really good team. But so are we.”

Kick-off is 7pm, with admission free for Season Ticket holders and FOREVERTON members and £5 for adults and £3 for concessions otherwise.
